The Queen holds an investiture at Buckingham Palace. The Duke of Edinburgh, Honorary Life Member, British Sub-Aqua Club, presents the Duke of Edinburgh's Prize at Buckingham Palace; as Patron and Twelfth Man, presents the Lord's Taverners Trophy at Buckingham Palace; as President and Honorary Life Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, presents the 1998 Albert Medal at a lunch at John Adam Street, London WC2; and, as President of the English Speaking Union of the Commonwealth, presents awards and afterwards chairs a meeting of the English Speaking Union Language Committee at Buckingham Palace. The Prince of Wales visits the Army Training Regiment, Pirbright, Surrey, to meet staff and recruits of the Household Division Ethnic Minority Initiative. Prince Edward, Trustee, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award International Foundation, attends a dinner for members of the award's World Fellowship at the Tower of London, London EC3. The Princess Royal opens Haltwhistle Development Corporation's Redevelopment Scheme at Haltwhistle Station, Haltwhistle, Northumberland; visits Hexham Tans Rehabilitation Project, Hexham, Northumberland; visits the new Stand at Hexham Racecourse; as President, Riding for the Disabled Association, opens the Unicorn Centre, Hemlington, North Yorkshire, and attends their Conference Dinner at the Civic Centre, Barras Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne. Princess Margaret visits the Purine Research Laboratory, King's College London, London SE1. Princess Alexandra, Patron, Bethlem and Maudsley NHS Trust, opens the Lishman Unit at the Maudsley Hospital, London SE5; and attends a reception given by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, a World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Environmental Health Management, at Chadwick Court, London SE1.
