There's a line of English eccentric minimalism that runs from David Bedford through Penguin Cafe Orchestra to this: the latest project of Arthur Jeffes, who re-formed the PCO founded by his late father, Simon.
Although Sundog consists of Jeffes and violinist Oli Langford, this is very much a piano/keyboard album where studio effects are used to extend the palette of sounds. One hears the odd cinematic echo of Nyman, but mostly it's great.
