Album: Escort, Escort (Tirk)
A "17-piece disco orchestra from Brooklyn", which could of course mean all kinds of terrible things.
That it doesn't is down in large part to the fact that they don't actually fetishise their "organic" musical basis – they sound as bleepy and artificial as everybody else. But they also sound structured: shuffles, fours, licks, shimmery guitars, compressed voices. Bright, intelligent, and pregnant with interesting allusion.
