From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Seattle rock band, fronted by Eddie Vedder, played their own take on the Oscar-winning song by launching into the chorus during an extended version of their own track “Daughter”.
Pearl Jam were performing at Milan’s Stadio San Siro on Friday night as part of their European tour. The group are set to headline Austin City Limits Festival in the US in October alongside OutKast and Eminem.
“Let It Go”, performed by Idina Menzel’s character Queen Elsa in the 2013 film and released as a single by Demi Lovato, won Best Original Song at the Academy Awards in February.
Last week, Frozen director Jennifer Lee hinted at the possibility of a sequel after the movie became the highest-grossing of its genre in history.
“We’ll see,” she told E! Online. “Never say never.”
Executive producer Don Hahn chimed in, adding that he thinks the audience “would always love to see more of those characters”.
Meanwhile, a Frozen stage musical is in development and due to showcase on Broadway at an as-yet-unspecified time in the future.
“We’re not demanding speed, we’re demanding excellence,” said Disney’s CEO Bob Iger.
