The Weeknd's new album will feature only one guest verse and it will be from Kanye West, unlikely friend of the Toronto singer Ed Sheeran has claimed.

In an interview with Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 radio show earlier this week, Sheeran told how he went to a party at The Weeknd's house recently and was asked to come back the next day to write a song with him.

He said the collab is unlikely to get released (phew) but let slip a pretty major one that will.

"In my head I'm like, 'The Weeknd doesn’t want to write a song!' The Weeknd doesn't want to work with anyone," Sheeran said. "He's got one feature on his album, which is Kanye West. He doesn't want to do that."

The Weeknd and Kanye have never worked together before, with Abel usually using fellow Torontonian Drake for verses.

His next album, the follow-up to Kiss Land, is believed to be titled Chapter III and is expected to drop late summer 2015.
