Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Reduced-price tickets for the festival, which is scheduled for June 17-19, are available until February 16.
An annual event since 1994, the Sónar Festival attracts nearly 80,000 participants for three days and nights of music and art events, with a special focus on electronic music. "By Day" events - including concerts, art shows, fairs, and demos for both professionals and the general public - take place at Barcelona's Center of Contemporary Culture and Museum of Contemporary Art. "By Night," the festivities move to the large Gran Vía M2 venue, with shuttles taking festivalgoers to and from the site.
A family component was added to the program in 2009. New in 2010, a second festival, called Sónar Galicia, will take place simultaneously in the city of A Coruña and will share many of the same events and performers.
The Chemical Brothers first achieved mainstream popularity with their 1995 debut album Exit Planet Dust. Known for their large-scale live performances, they have previously performed at festivals including Glastonbury and Reading and Leeds.
Other confirmed artists for Sónar 2010 include UK hip-hop artist Dizzee Rascal, LCD Soundsystem, and Air.
Tickets are €130 through February 26, then go up to €155. Tips for finding local accomodations can be found at the Sónar website.
