Taylor Swift: 'Look What You Made Me Do' music video director addresses Beyonce comparisons
'The #LWYMMDvideo is not in her art space'
Taylor Swift’s new song has split opinion: some fans already adore the Right Said Fred sampling “Look What You Made Me Do,” others detest it.
The music video for the track will debut during the MTV Video Music Awards, although the singer has already released a quick snippet of footage on Instagram.
Fans were quick to notice similarities between Swift’s video and last year’s iconic ‘Formation’ by Beyoncé, some accusing her of plagiarism.
The director of the video, Joseph Khan, has responded to accusations on Twitter. He wrote “I’ve worked with Beyoncé a few times. She’s an amazing person. The #LWYMMDvideo is not in her art space. Love and respect to Bey.”
Khan previously worked with Swift on the videos for “Bad Blood,” “Blank Space,” and “Out of the Woods,” while he also helmed Destiny’s Child’s (Beyoncé’s previous band) “Jumpin’, Jumpin'” and “Say My Name.”
Meanwhile, the Associated Press reports that, on release day alone, “Look What You Made Me Do” was streamed more than 8 million times on Spotify, nabbing an extra 19 million views via the lyric video on YouTube, both records for the respected services.

Show all 6Billboard also reports that the single may sell over 500,000 digital copies during its first week of release, marking the biggest sales week for a single since Adele’s 2015 hit “Hello”.
Not everything has been plain sailing for Swift; fans have accused the singer of releasing the upcoming album Reputation on 10 November — the ten year anniversary of Donna West’s death, Kanye’s mum — something the label has been forced to deny.
