At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The radio station announced the news on Thursday morning after fans became intrigued when the pop stars they follow began tweeting photos of themselves holding up random letters of the alphabet, which it turns out spell ‘Radio 1’s Live Lounge Month’.
Usher will be next up, also from California, before the likes of Bastille, Craig David and Sigala, Clean Bandit and Blossoms take to the microphone to perform acoustic versions of one of their own songs and a cover of their choice back in the UK.
There will be an extended Live Lounge special every Friday before The 1975 close the event with an evening Live Lounge Symphony with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra at Blackpool Tower Ballroom.
