From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 24-year-old model and singer announced the news on her Instagram and Twitter profiles yesterday, posting, “Last night I signed to @StrangerRecords lets do this!”, along with a picture of her and members of the label.
Pixie, who is the daughter of Boom Town Rats singer-songwriter Sir Bob Geldof, will be joining Lana Del Rey, Charlotte OC and Seye who are already signed to Stranger Records.
This isn't Pixie's first foray into music, she is the lead singer of the band Violet. The group released their debut single featuring the double A-sides ‘YOU’ and ‘I Come Undone’ back in May 2012.
Violet were signed to Luv Luv Luv Records and took their cue from Courtney Love’s band Hole.
The group were due to perform at Coachella Festival in 2014 but Pixie pulled out following the death of her sister Peaches in April. An inquest found that Peaches died after taking a fatal dose of heroin at her home in Kent.
Since her sister’s death Pixie has mostly stayed out of the spotlight until now. Along with her music career, she has a fashion and jewellery brand called FunkyOffish.
