Paloma Faith calls out lack of female performers at the Brit Awards

Dua Lipa is the only woman booked to perform, alongside the likes of Stormzy, Ed Sheeran, and Foo Fighters

Paloma Faith has criticised the Brit Awards for the lack of female artists currently booked to perform at the ceremony.

The event for the 2018 awards, taking place on 21 February, will feature the likes of Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters, Rag’n’Bone Man, Sam Smith, and Stormzy all performing live. Dua Lipa is currently the only woman in that line-up.

When asked by The Mirror at the nominations launch show whether it was a powerful time to be a woman in music, she replied: “That’s what they keep telling us, but it looks like all men performing again except for one woman at the Brits.”

Dua Lipa made Brit Awards history by landing not only the most nominations for this year, but also the most nominations ever for a female solo artist at the Brits. She’s nominated for British Solo Female Artist, British Artist Video of the Year, British Breakthrough Act, British Single, and Mastercard British Album of the Year.

Paloma Faith is also nominated for British Solo Female Artist, alongside Jessie Ware, Kate Tempest, and Laura Marling. The Brit Awards will take place on 21 February at London’s O2 Arena.
