A Texas-based One Direction fan has left One Directioners across the world furious today, after signing a six-figure book deal to turn her online fan fiction into a three-volume series of books.

Writer Anna Todd, 25, has added 300 instalments to her One Direction fan fiction story After, clocking up a staggering 800 million views from Internet users. After is published on a story-sharing website, with 85% of views coming from mobile devices.

After noticing the number of views the posts had, enterprising publisher Simon and Schuster have signed her up to produce a series of books.

The prime concern of most One Directioners is the way in which band member Harry Styles will be represented.

Todd’s fictional character, based on Styles himself, turns female main character Tessa’s high school life upside down in a toxic love affair.

Fans are unhappy about the role that the Harry-inspired character plays in grade A student Tessa’s fall from grace.

The hashtag #SuspendAnnaTodd is trending worldwide on Twitter, with fans protesting “Harry doesn’t deserve this” and “The boys don’t need this in their lives!”

The first book instalment of After is due out in November and has already been tipped for a possible film deal by United Talent Agency.
