Notorious BIG’s former Brooklyn home, about which he rapped in the song “Juicy”, has hit the market for $4,000 (£3,150) a month.

The apartment is located at 226 St James Place (unit 3L) in Clinton Hill.

Notorious BIG – real name Christopher Wallace – refers to it as his “one-room shack” in “Juicy”. The 1994 song, Wallace’s first single, documents his experience of poverty throughout his childhood and describes how much his lifestyle has changed thanks to his success.

The property is now listed as a three-bedroom, 972-square-foot apartment with a bathroom, hardwood floors, and high ceilings.

“The kitchen has been has granite countertops, stainless appliances and lots of storage,” states the listing by New York City real estate company Compass. “This home also features a windowed dining room and a spacious southeast facing living room with an additional office.”

The property was put up for sale in 2013 and sold in June of that same year for $825,000.

Listing agent Fabienne Lecole, who handled the 2013 sale, said people had expressed interest in the property due to its character but not its history.

Wallace, a Brooklyn native, was fatally shot on 9 March, 1997, aged 24.

Several murals pay tribute to the artist in his native borough.

One of them, which depicts Wallace with a crown, is located on Bedford Avenue in Bed-Stuy.

Another one in Fort Greene features a large portrait of the rapper with the words ”Comandante Biggie” underneath it.
