Meek Mill appears to have dismissed controversy surrounding his recent lyric about the late basketball star Kobe Bryant.

Lyrics to the reportedly unreleased track titled “Don’t Worry (RIP Kobe)” were leaked last week, and apparently include the line: “This b**** I’m f***in’ always tell me that she love but she ain’t ever showed me/ Yeah, and if I ever lack, I’m goin’ out with my chopper, it be another Kobe.”

Bryant was killed along with his daughter Gianna and seven others in a helicopter crash in California last year.

Bryant’s widow, Vanessa Bryant, called out Mill in an Instagram Story on Monday 22 February, branding him “extremely insensitive and disrespectful”.

“Dear @meekmill, I find this line to be extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period,” she wrote.

“I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this. If you are a fan, fine, there’s a better way to show your admiration for my husband. This lacks respect and tact.”

Just minutes after Vanessa Bryant’s post, Mill tweeted: “I’m going back savage in this s*** ... f*** ya feelings!”

It is unclear if he was responding to her post or if the timing of his tweet was a coincidence.

He has since posted: “I don’t think we on the same signal y’all ... I don’t see what y’all see... I be looking at the net laughing like I did whet [sic].

“I say random s*** all day on social  ... it becomes a trend to hate on me every once in a while but I feed off that s*** ima beast literally.”

Vanessa Bryant has also shared a message of support from WNBA star Candace Parker, who wrote: “I’m sorry you and your girls continually have to deal with s*** like this. It’s not fair it’s not right.”

The Independent has contacted Meek Mill’s representative for comment.
