Celebrities are paying tribute to Kim Porter after the actor, who was in an on-again-off-again relationship with Diddy for more than a decade, died aged 47.
“This is heavy,” Rihanna wrote on Instagram. “Heartbroken about this, man. We lost a real one today, beautiful inside and out. So many will be affected by this, some won’t even know why... but the whole world was graced by the vibrance in your spirit. My deepest condolences to the ones that were blessed enough to know, meet, and love her! Such a special soul, man! This don’t even feel real! May God comfort and protect her children and loved ones!”
Meanwhile, Drake also paid tribute on Instagram, writing: “Sending peace and prayers to my brothers and to the big homie Puff. Love ya’ll and I am so sorry.”
“This is so heartbreaking. Lord please give her kids & her whole family strength,” Missy Elliott tweeted, while 50 Cent posted a photo of Porter on Instagram and wrote: “R.I.P to Kim Porter, I send my condolences to her friends and family. She was loved and will be missed dearly. I know Puff is hit right now he loved her for real, soul mate type s***. Chin up Puff, Positive vibes only.”
Porter, who had three children with Diddy, was found dead on Thursday at her home in the Toluca Lake neighbourhood of Los Angeles, according to TMZ.
Diddy’s representative confirmed Porter’s death to the website, and while an LAPD spokesperson contacted by The Independent wouldn’t confirm names, they said officers had responded to a call concerning a female in Toluca Lake at 11.38am.
Porter had suffered from flu-like symptoms and possibly pneumonia for several weeks, a source told TMZ. Porter’s cause of death remains unknown at this time. Dispatch audio obtained by TMZ mentions a person in cardiac arrest.
Porter’s tumultuous relationship with Diddy – real name Sean Combs – began in 1994 and ended in 2007. At the time, she said Diddy’s philandering was one the reasons for their breakup.
“As Black women we sacrifice,” she told Essence magazine in 2006. “We stand by our man, through thick and thin, through whatever. But if you feel like, ‘Maybe I am getting the short end of the stick,’ that’s when a change has to take place.”
At the time, she was pregnant with the couple’s twin daughters D’Lila Star and Jessie James, when a friend informed her that Combs had recently fathered a baby with another woman.
