Kanye West has addressed the backlash over his controversial opinions with a new verse on Pusha T's track "What Would Meek Do".

The song appears on Pusha T's newly-released album Daytona, and serves as a platform for West to respond to criticism after months of polarising comments about politics and black identity, including one where he appeared to claim "slavery was a choice". West later backtracked on the comment and said he was talking about being "mentally enslaved".

Pusha T himself has stated he does not condone West's most recent opinions, commenting: "It's just another one of many things we disagree on. It's just a stance that I have. I'm totally against it."

On his opening verse, West begins with "Whoop! Scoop!", which Rolling Stone notes continues his new habit of opening a track in nonsensical fashion.

"Am I too complex for Complex Con?" he raps. "Everything 'Ye say cause a new debate."

Referring to himself in the third person, he then refers to claims that he's "out of touch" and attacks rumours of mental instability: "Got to surrogate his kids/Get two dads" - "You better watch who you calling crazy," he adds, despite having embraced the term before.

West produced the entire Daytona record, which marks the first of several albums he has produced which are set to drop this year - including albums by Nas, Kid Cudi, and himself.
