From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Some of you may need matchsticks to prop up your eyelids today after waiting two hours for Kanye West to make a surprise appearance at London’s KoKo last night.

Having announced the last minute gig on social media at 7pm yesterday evening the Yeezus rapper appeared onstage at 1am, despite the doors having opened at 11pm, to perform some of his biggest hits including “Power, Can’t Tell Me Nothing” and “All Of The Lights”.

The event was the culmination of a week-long European promotional trip the highlight of which saw Kanye greeting fans in the 02 Arena’s branch of Nando’s ahead of his Brits performance (much of which was bleeped out by broadcasters ITV).

Tickets for last night’s gig cost £50 and sold out in minutes. Fans filled the 1,500 capacity venue, some of them having queued in the cold for hours. Kanye was joined onstage by a number of big name guests including Big Sean, JME, Vic Mensa, Skepta, CyHi The Prynce and members of the Wu-Tang Clan.

The rapper took the opportunity to showcase new material including “U Mad” featuring Mensa.

However, some people who didn’t venture out to see Kim Kardashian’s husband perform might have been surprised by the setlist circulating on the internet this morning. The joke suggests Kanye opened with a cover of “Right Said Fred” and ended with a “Closing Rant” performing the theme from Robot Wars somewhere in between.

The real setlist is below:
