Chester Bennington’s death last month came as a shock to legions of Linkin Park fans, many mourning the tragic passing.

Over a month on and the band has announced a special event to honour the singer’s memory.

Posting a statement on social media, the band members wrote: “Just wanted to say thank you to all our fans around the world for the tremendous outpouring of love, which has strengthened our spirit during this incredibly difficult time.

“The five of us are so grateful for all of your support as we heal and build the future of Linkin Park. We are working on a special public event in Los Angeles to honour Chester's memory, and look forward to sharing details with you soon.

“Peace and love, Phoenix and Linkin Park”

Bennington’s death was announced on July 20. He was 41-years-old, and the Los Angeles County Coroner confirmed the cause of death was by hanging.

Since his death, several artists have paid tribute to the singer, including Rhianna, Pharrell and Coldplay. Jay Z, who collaborated with Linkin Park for the album Collision Course, paid tribute to the singer mid-way though his V Festival headline slot.
