Trailer for Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again

Cher has decided to bless the world: not only with her sublime appearance in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, but with an entire album of ABBA covers.

The musical icon revealed the news to Kathie Lee Gifford, in an interview on the Today Show, where she said: "After I did "Fernando", I thought it would really be fun to do an album of ABBA songs, so I did!."

"It's not what you think of when you think ABBA, 'cause I did it in a different way," she added, though there's been no further information on what exactly the album will entail, or when it might be released.

The sequel to Mamma Mia! sees Cher show up as Donna (Meryl Streep)'s glamorous, Vegas-singer mother, crashing the hotel-opening party of her granddaughter Sophie (Amanda Seyfried).

The film sees Sophie reflect back on her own mother's journey of discovery on the Greek island of Kalokairi, with Lily James stepping into to play a young Donna.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again hits UK cinemas 20 July.
