From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Blur have been revealed as the latest headliners for Benicassim 2015, joining the Prodigy, Portishead, and Florence + The Machine.

A spokesperson confirmed the band’s appearance at the Spanish festival today, saying Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree would be playing tracks from their new album as well as classics.

“We can’t wait to see them return to the stage, showing that in Blur’s hands pop is real magic,” he added.

The Festival Internacional de Benicàssim (FIB) will take over the Spanish beach resort from 16 to 19 July with acts including Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Crystal Fighters, Public Enemy, Clean Bandit, Bastille, Hinds, Jamie T and Mark Ronson.

The Magic Whip, Blur’s first album in 12 years, is set for release on 27 April and is being previewed in an intimate West London gig next week.

The band will also headline the British Summer Time festival in London's Hyde Park on 20 June.

Albarn said The Magic Whip was influenced by the band’s surroundings while they were writing it in Hong Kong.

One track, “Ong Ong”, was reportedly described by bassist Alex James as a “banger”, while “Pyongyang” is said to describe Albarn’s thoughts on North Korea.

“It’s my impression of the place, in an abstract, veiled way,” he told The Guardian.
