Indie musician Sufjan Stevens continues to be the most popular act on The Hype Machine on September 2, followed by Rapper Kanye West and Philadelphia rock band The War on Drugs. Among bands to re-enter the top ten are The Drums and Dominant Legs.

Brooklyn band The Drums was last in the blogs a month ago after sharing a new track, "Down By the Water," as a free mp3 download. The group is back in the blogosphere with a new mp3, this time a cover of the Arcade Fire track "We Used to Wait" the band recorded for the UK's BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. Real Horrorshow Tunes (horrorshowtunez.wordpress.com) reviews, while "the Drums' version could never emulate or better the Arcade Fire original it's definitely a[n] interesting take, filled with a lo-fi, droning, almost, drowned out surfy aesthetic."

Dominant Legs, a dream-pop duo from San Francisco made up of Ryan Lynch (of the band Girls) and Hannah Hunt, released its debut EP Young at Love and Life on August 17. Bloggers are now passing around several songs from that album, including the title song and the single "About My Girls." The Wheel's Still in Spin (www.thewheelsstillinspin.com) writes of the musicians, "They combine to create a sound that mixes 60s pop and modern indie rock. Imagine Belle & Sebastian as a duo."
