From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Twin Shadow, aka Brooklyn-based musician George Lewis Jr., reenters the music blogosphere after releasing a new track called "Changes," a remake of "Circus Is Gone" by 1980s band Baggare. Also, a new face in The Hype Machine's most blogged artists chart on September 19 is Australian band Royal Headache.

Twin Shadow is reportedly working on a follow-up to his acclaimed debut album, 2010's Forget. In his latest cover track of a relatively obscure '80s track, he "redressed the song, from something seemed almost introspective and sad, into a sexual electro jam," writes blogger Tympanogram.

Sydney-based breakout rock-pop band Royal Headache represents it home country in this month's Music Alliance Pact's (MAP) monthly listing of up-and-coming music acts from around the world. "After a couple of years of drip-feeding 7", CD-R and cassette releases, the time has arrived for the release of Royal Headache's debut album," writes blogger Who The Hell Are They?, who shared the track "Down the Lane."
