Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Los Angeles indie rock group No Age is both in second place and new to the top ten, while current indie it-band Arcade Fire is in third.
Chromeo, an electronic funk duo made up of childhood friends P-Thugg and Dave 1, was last seen in the blogs in early July after announcing the upcoming release of Business Casual and sharing the tracks "Night by Night " and "Don't Turn the Lights On" from that album. The duo has now specified a release date - September 16 - and accompanied that announcement by a remix of "Don't Turn the Lights On" by Belgian solo project Aeroplane. Business Casual is now available for pre-order at www.chromeo.net.
No Age formed in 2005 and is known for both its DIY ethic and its ties to the Los Angeles underground music scene. The band has made two full-length studios albums, the second of which was released on Sub Pop Records, and a third, Everything in Between, is due out September 28. That album's lead single, "Glitter," is being released on a single alongside "Inflorescence," and both tracks are now making their way around the blogosphere. Weekly Tape Deck (weeklytapedeck.com) writes, "No Age as always has kept us happy with their amazingly dissonant brand of two-instrument-90s-indie rock," while The Line of Best Fit (www.thelineofbestfit.com) says, "'Glitter' sees the band embrace a more rounded, pop-spin on their scuzzy lo-fi heritage."
