From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

New Jersey electronic artist Com Truise, aka Seth Haley, is a hot topic in the music blogosphere after releasing another free track from his just-released full-length, Galactic Melt. Also climbing The Hype Machine's chart on August 18 is Tokyo indie-pop band Möscow Club.

Com Truise gained some buzz last summer for his '80-inspired EP Cyanide Sisters and, more recently, for remixing tracks from Daft Punk's Tron: Legacy soundtrack. He also has been releasing a slew of free tracks from his new album, including the latest, "Ether Drift," "a synth heavy trip through the cosmos," writes blogger Earmilk.

Möscow Club represents Japan in this month's Music Alliance Pact's (MAP) monthly listing of up-and-coming music acts from around the world. "Like similarly ocean-centric artists Best Coast and Beach Fossils, Möscow Club turns simple melodies into irresistible beach-blanket pop," writes blogger Make Believe Melodies.
