Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. On Monday, January 17, Lady Gaga announced her plans to debut new music from her upcoming Born This Way on Wednesday, January 19, at a Paris fashion show by Thierry Mugler.
"I'm the musical director for the MUGLER fashion show," she announced on Twitter. "I'm remixing/previewing a record on Born This Way, tailored for the show + garments." She did not detail which song she would preview. According to a post on her website, fans will be able to listen to the new song on Mugler's official website beginning on Thursday, January 20, at 6 p.m. Central European Time (9 a.m. PST).
According to fashion magazine Women's Wear Daily, Gaga agreed to the arrangement because Mugler's new creative director, Nicola Formichetti, conceived the infamous meat dress that Gaga wore at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2010.
This isn't Gaga's first time to launch new music on the Paris runway. In 2009, she debuted "Bad Romance" at Alexander McQueen's show.
The 24-year-old singer is up for six Grammy Awards, which will air on February 13, the same day she is set to release the first single and title track from her new album. Born This Way is expected t o drop on May 23.
She is currently in the midst of her Monster Ball tour, which the singer describes as "the first-ever pop-electro opera." The tour includes performances of music from her two albums, The Fame and The Fame Monster, which have sold well over 10 million copies worldwide. The international tour began in late 2009 and is scheduled to continue through 2011. Her 2009 The Fame Monster topped charts in 11 countries, and Gaga has sold more than 15 million albums and 51 million singles worldwide.
