Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. On April 6, Lollapalooza organizers revealed the lineup for the 2010 festival, scheduled to take place at Chicago's Grant Park from August 6 through 8. Lady Gaga will bring her "Monster Ball" act to the Lollapalooza stage; other headliners include Green Day, newly reunited Soundgarden, Arcade Fire, The Strokes, and Phoenix.
Lady Gaga previously performed at the 2007 edition of Lollapalooza; the then relatively unknown made an appearance on the festival's small BMI stage. Soundgarden performed with Lollapalooza in 1992 and 1996 when it was a touring festival, a year before the band members parted ways.
Other acts on the lineup include MGMT, Hot Chip, The Black Keys, The National, Spoon, Devo, Cypress Hill, The New Pornographers, Erykah Badu, Grizzly Bear, and The xx.
Organizers announced the lineup after having made it available online as part of Hangman-style game. As such, much of the lineup had already been deduced by fans and the media in the days leading up to the official announcement.
First launched in 1991 by Perry Farrell, lead singer of Jane's Addiction, Lollapalooza is an iconic American festival with its roots in the alternative music scene. The festival was inactive for a few years but is now set to run through 2011. An early batch of 3-day passes going for $175 sold out in August; further ticket information is likely to accompany the lineup announcement on April 6.
