From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

American pop star Janet Jackson announced last week on her official website that she will launch her world tour on Febuary 14th in Hong Kong. She plans to hit 35 cities in a tour dubbed "Number Ones: Up Close and Personal," supporting her 2009 best-of collection, Number Ones, a double-album featuring her 35 number one US hits.

"Many have asked when I will tour again - well today I'm really excited to answer that question, and I announce my largest ever world tour, celebrating 35 number ones," Jackson said in a post on her website. "This tour will be different from those of the past in the way that I will exclusively perform songs from my number ones."

In November, Jackson invited fans to help her select cities in which to perform, and so far she has only announced the Hong Kong date; more dates will be announced soon. As of December 13, tickets are now on sale for the Hong Kong show.

Jackson also added in message on her website that she hopes, when possible, to "perform in venues that will allow me to be up close so that I can be with [fans] in a much more intimate setting."

Outside of America, Number Ones is entitled Janet Jackson: The Number Ones , and the album marks Jackson's second hits album, following 1995's Design of a Decade 1986/1996. A five-time Grammy Award winner, Jackson has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide.
