From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Muse have announced that they would love to headline Glastonbury next summer, after tickets for the Worthy Farm extravaganza sold out in just half an hour on Sunday.

The British band, who released their seventh album Drones in June, last topped the bill alongside Gorillaz and Stevie Wonder in 2010, having previously closed the festival in 2004.

Now, they’re gagging for a comeback, with bassist Chris Wolstenholme revealing his group would “play every year if they could”.

“It’s probably the best festival in the world,” he told Q magazine. “We’re all hoping we get to do it on this album. It’s been a while.”

However, if they haven’t already had the call, Muse don’t stand much of a chance. Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis hinted recently that he has already booked six headliners for the next two years.

Bookies’ favourites include Foo Fighters, who had to pull out of headlining the 2015 event after frontman Dave Grohl broke his leg, Coldplay, Blur, Adele, Fleetwood Mac, Daft Punk, Radiohead and Prince. Eavis previously denied that Miley Cyrus was in the running for the Pyramid Stage.
