Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Wu Lyf

Brooklyn Girls

Ellery Roberts takes a back seat as soft-voiced bassist Tom McClung sings lead. A beautiful, chiming pop song, "Brooklyn Girls" moves away from the raw sound of Wu Lyf's debut album.

Binary

Turquoise

A huge, brooding beast of a song. Slick production doesn't taint the song's dark spirit, which sounds like Mechanical Animals-era Marilyn Manson.

Throwing Snow & Py

Wallow

A creeping dubstep track full of trancey synths and heavy garage beats. Py's lyrics recall a female Maxi Jazz.

Four Tet

Locked

Clipped beats and a subtle bass line allow a squelchy mellotron riff to provide the hooks. Set to appear on the forthcoming 59th Fabric mix.

Bastille

Flaws

Hooky, soulful vocals with a warm, synth-heavy backing. Above average indie-pop.

tUnE-yArDs

Gangsta (Live on Fallon)

The experimental group's appearance on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' included a guest rap and sax solo from house band The Roots.

EMA

Butterfly Knife

A detuned guitar and a lyric about self-harm are all that's needed on this haunting song.

Adele

Set Fire to the Rain (Moonlight Matter mix)

The Belgian producer adds heavily compressed bass and guitar to turn Adele's track into a dance-floor filler.

Boneyards

Human Nature

Snotty, heavy, garage rock.
