Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Molly Kate Kestner recently unveiled her brand new single ‘I Don’t Know’ which saw her collaborate with co-writer/producer Starsmith and co-writer Amy Wadge (Ed Sheeran, 'Thinking Out Loud').

Along with penning tracks for herself and other artists (Ryan Tedder, Kelly Clarkson, Wiz Khalifa) the US artist recently supported Wrabel on his 2017 West Coast tour.

We're premiering a beautiful acoustic version of her track ‘Good Die Young’ - which was written on the day that Prince died.

Q&A with Molly Kate Kestner

What are you listening to at the moment?

I’ve been listening to a lot of Sigrid, London Grammar, and James Arthur.

What are your plans for the rest of the year?

I'm hoping to play as many shows as possible, tour a little, put out more music, and also visit Harry Potter World at some point.

What was the first gig you ever played and what's been the best so far?

The first gig I ever played was actually in my hometown (Austin, MN). There was a festival to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Hormel Foods which is based in my town. Pretty random but it was a lot of fun!

I'd say my best gig would have to be the last show I did on tour with Wrabel (an incredible artist if you haven't heard of him). We ended the tour in LA & all my friends came out to the show and it was just the most fun I've had performing!
