Letters: Ulster's peril
Sir: Watching David Trimble and his henchmen on TV last week, I could not help being reminded of the old Soviet Politburo on parade. A solid phalanx of stony-faced, middle-aged and elderly grey men (not a woman in sight), repeating "Nyet" between clenched teeth to every constructive proposal.
We cannot allow those who are immobilised by their own dogmatism to obstruct for ever the progressive political process of these islands. And where are the old Soviet diehards now? Where did their obduracy get them? History has passed them by, as it always does those who are mired in the past.
