Sir: Beef farmers have been celebrating the lifting of the export ban. However, the only beef allowed to be exported will be boneless and come from animals born after 1 August 1996 which were more than six months but less than 30 months old when slaughtered and whose dams survived for six months after birth. Phew! If I was to try to market a new foodstuff which needed so many regulations to ensure its safety I reckon customers would not touch it with a bargepole.
