Hollywood Jesus dead: Kevin Short who was famous for his Christ-like looks dies aged 57

West Hollywood has lost one of its most beloved local celebrities, known as WeHo Jesus.

The man known as Kevin Short, and sometimes Kevin Lee Light, has died aged 57.

According to his neighbour Brian Hamilton, Short passed from a "brief illness."

In a message on Facebook, Hamilton added that once he heard of a memorial or burial, he would share with the public.

While this cause of death has not been confirmed, a family member has said he died on December 13.

On his Twitter account, @kevinleelight, Short labelled himself as “la’s jesus tmz’s hollywood jesus aerosmith’s street jesus snoop’s sunset jesus weho’s rainbow jesus lmfao’s party rock jesus for barbara ann.”

The Independent has previously described Short as “such a celebrity on Sunset Boulevard that he has featured in Lana Del Rey’s music videos and rock band Aerosmith even wrote a song, ‘Street Jesus,’ about him.”

Additionally, Short's credits include appearing in videos produced by the City of West Hollywood, including the “The WeHoans” and in an episode of comedian Brody Stevens’ Comedy Central TV series Brody Stevens: Enjoy It! with Zach Galifianakis.

After finding out Short had died, Stevens posted a Twitter tribute to the Hollywood staple that read, “Beyond generous and supportive of all the comedians. He was part of The Comedy Store & Los Angeles…I’ll miss him.”
