While the Golden Globes are a cause for celebration, this year’s ceremony will serve as the scene for a major protest.
Multiple actresses, both presenters and nominees — including Jessica Chastain, Meryl Streep, and Emma Stone — will wear all-black clothing to protest sexual harassment in Hollywood.
According to People , the trend will begin at the Globes but is expected to continue throughout awards season. One source told the publication: “All female actresses attending the Globes are protesting by just wearing black gowns.”
Many well-known actresses and actors have begun speaking out against sexual harassment, kickstarted by the New York Times ’ story regarding Harvey Weinstein.
