"We buy from the children of dead people." Shrewd Manhattan couple Kate and Alex (Catherine Keener and Oliver Platt) run a lucrative vintage furniture store where the stock is acquired from the recently deceased.

Their next "target" is the spiteful, blunt ("You gained weight") 90-year-old Andra who lives next door. They've bought her flat but – "charitably" – allow her to live there rent-free until she drops dead. This puts the covetous duo into contact/ conflict with Andra's granddaughters – timid Rebecca (Rebecca Hall) and "cold" Mary (Amanda Peet). Nicole Holofcener's garrulous drama benefits from strong turns from Hall and Keener, but lacks satisfactory tension or bite.
