Trainspotting 2: Official title and release date announced for Danny Boyle's sequel
We now know when exactly we'll be catching up with Renton, Begbie and co
The Trainspotting sequel may have started production months ago but - to fans - it's probably felt like years since the follow-up was confirmed (in addition to the 20 they've already been waiting, that is).
Well, it's finally been announced just how much longer they'll have to wait before Danny Boyle's anticipated sequel - officially titled T2 - is released:
Mark your calendars - it'll land 27 January 2017.
The news was announced via Film4's Twitter account a few days after on-set footage of Ewen Bremner surfaced showing the actor in character as Spud.
Based on Irvine Welsh's novel Porno, T2 will reunite the majority of the 1996 seminal modern classic's original cast - including Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle.
Trainspotting centered on the lives of a group of heroin addicts residing in Edinburgh during the late Eighties.
The release date announcement - which you can watch above - also confirms that shooting begins today (16 May) so expect more details to spill out over the coming months.
