At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. In a bold late-night Facebook status, veteran actor Val Kilmer seemingly confirmed himself for Top Gun 2 along with some other huge names.
According to the status - which was shared over 1,000 times within an hour - Tom Cruise and Gene Hackman will all star in the upcoming sequel, with The Godfather's Francis Ford Coppola to direct and Jerry Bruckheimer to produce.
He wrote: “I just got offered Top Gun 2 - not often you get to say "yes" without reading the script... "It's starring Gene Hackman…" "Yes" "The director is Francis Coppola..." “Yes!"
“Jerry Bruckheimer and Tom Cruise!!! "Yes." We will all miss Tony Scott one of the kindest gentlemen I've ever met in the film biz, but let's fire up some fighter jets again!!!”
His odd choice of wording left fans salivating over the prospect of the cast and crew, would Hackman and Coppola really be returning to film for a Top Gun sequel?! Kilmer was forced to clear up exactly what he meant:
Francis Coppola and Gene Jackman are examples of what an actor says "yes" to. They are not involved. So sorry for the misunderstanding.

The original film, which starred Cruise and Kilmer, was a major success in the US, launching Cruise into the Hollywood A-list.
It's very possible he might actually be returning, given he has expressed an interest in a sequel before.
