Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. In Bruges was a brilliant little film that stands up on repeat watches. Seven Psychopaths didn’t work quite as well, but was still incredibly innovative and creative.
Both movies came from Martin McDonagh, and his next project will be the curiously titled Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
It had already assembled an impressive cast of Frances McDormand, Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson, and now Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage has signed up.
This isn’t the first time McDonagh has worked with a dwarf actor, Jordan Prentice a drug-addicted American one in In Bruges.
Also written by McDonagh, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri centres on a mother (McDormand) whose daughter has been murdered. Frustrated by the inaction of the police, who are too busy persecuting black people, in finding her killer, she takes out three billboards protesting them.
According to SlashFilm, Harrelson will play a sheriff, Abbie Cornish his wife and Sam Rockwell his hotheaded protégé. Lucas Hedges (Moonrise Kingdom) will play the mother’s son, John Hawkes her ex-husband, and Dinklage will be playing a local man with a crush on her.
Principal photography will begin this spring, so we can expect a release date sometime in 2017.
