The Wall trailer: John Cena attempts some proper acting in single location psychological thriller from Bourne Identity director
'A battle of will and wits'
WWE wrestler John Cena’s foray into film has thus far been pretty action-orientated and not required much in the way of acting skill (I can’t remember if it was in The Marine or 12 Rounds, but he definitely once threw a boat at an enemy’s head).
His next movie, however, comes from The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman, is based on a Black List script and sees him star opposite Nocturnal Animals’ Aaron Taylor Johnson.
Produced by Amazon Studios, The Wall is not a Donald Trump biopic but a psychological thriller about a stand-off between an Iraqi sniper and two American soldiers with only regulation rifles.
The trailer suggests the movie takes place entirely at the titular Wall, behind which the pair take cover, with the sniper attempting mentally wear them down over a field telephone.
The official synopsis is as follows:
A deadly psychological thriller that follows two soldiers pinned down by an Iraqi sniper, with nothing but a crumbling wall between them. Their fight becomes as much a battle of will and wits as it is of lethally accurate marksmanship.
The Wall opens in cinemas March 2017.
