The drip feeding of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailers has commenced, with a 10-second clip, a pre-teaser if you will, premiering on Star Wars’ official YouTube page.
It essentially dishes out three things:
- A shiny new title card
- A push to watch Good Morning America later today, which has the exclusive premiere of the full trailer (6am Central time, 12pm UK time)
- A brief glimpse of a never before seen, pretty badass-looking Stormtrooper, who patrols with several others of their kind around what looks to be some kind of burning citadel
Update: The full trailer is here!
Rogue One, designed to fill the Star Wars-shaped hole in your life until Episode VIII arrives in 2017, is set between Episodes III and IV and centres on a Rebel mission to steal plans for the Death Star (a mission that presumably fails given later events).
The cast includes Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, and Forest Whitaker, who are directed by Godzilla’s Gareth Edwards.
In February, we learned that the movie is almost finished.
"Filming of Rogue One is virtually completed and we absolutely love what we’ve seen so far,” said Disney CEO Bob Iger. “This is the first of a set of planned stand-alone stories and we’re already in preproduction on our next one, for release in May of 2018."
There are no shortage of Star Wars films following it, with Han Solo and Boba Fett spin-offs slated alongside episodes VIII and IX.
