Spike Lee shares Da 5 Bloods trailer

Director Spike Lee has accused President Donald Trump of having Ku Klux Klan-like “tendencies” as he stated that he will be remembered as the worst President in US history.

The BlacKkKlansman film maker told GQ Hype that Trump has “turned up the flames” in encouraging police brutality against Black Lives Matter protesters and that the world will be in “peril” if he is re-elected in the November 2020 election.

Saying that he was “not certain” whether Trump will lose or not, Lee asked: “How do we know he’s not going to try to rig the thing again?”

“If this guy wins, the world is in peril,” he continued. “Not just the United States Of America. The world.”

Referencing a character in his new film Da 5 Bloods who calls the President “that Klansman in the Oval office”, Lee continued: “He has those tendencies. He sided with the Klan in Charlottesville. He’s sympathetic to their cause.

“[He will] go down in history as the worst president of the United States of America.”

Following the death of George Floyd, who died in May after a police officer knelt on his neck for nine minutes, Lee made a short film titled 3 Brothers - Radio Raheem, Eric Garner And George Floyd, about black men suffering police violence.

Speaking about Floyd’s death, Lee said: “Black and brown people are getting killed left and right without cameras, so if there's no camera... But even with the camera there's no guarantee cops are gonna go away. So if there's no footage then you know they’re gonna walk.”

Last week, the film maker called Trump a “gangster” who was “trying to be a dictator” during an interview with BBC News.

“The Bible did not look comfortable in his hand, and he didn’t look comfortable holding the Bible either,” Lee said, adding: “I have never seen something like that before in my life, particularly with a world leader.”
