Roman Polanski's sexual assault victim Samantha Geimer has slammed Quentin Tarantino's comments - after she said her encounter with the director wasn't rape and she was "down to party."

Geimer's decision to open up stems from the resurfacing of a 2003 interview between Tarantino and Howard Stern in which Tarantino defended Polanski against the sexual assault allegations, even though Polanski pleaded guilty to unlawful sex with a minor.

In the recording, Tarantino said, "He had sex with a minor. That's not rape. To me, when you use the word rape, you're talking about violent, throwing them down... it's like one of the most violent crimes in the world."

The Kill Bill director defended his position even when Stern's co-host Robin Quivers brought up the fact that she was allegedly drugged and plied with alcohol.

In 1977, Polanski was charged with five counts of unlawful sexual intercourse against then 13-year-old Geimer.

Since he faced potential imprisonment and deportation, he fled to France in 1978 where he couldn't be extradited.

Polanski's victim, now aged 54, had addressed the situation again saying, "It's not a big deal to me what people think. It doesn't make a difference in my life. I know what happened. I do not need other people weighing in on what it's like getting raped at 13."

While she isn't looking for anything from Tarantino, she does hope that he's changed his perspective from 15 years ago.

'I'm not upset, but I would probably feel better if he realises now that he was wrong, after 15 years, after hearing the facts," she explains. "Nobody has to be pissed off on my behalf. I'm okay."

Geimer added that she hopes Tarantino came to a realisation from the reaction to his comments.

"He was wrong and I bet he knows it," she says. "I hope he doesn't make an ass out of himself and keep talking that way."

An eight-minute radio interview between Tarantino and Stern from 2003 became the subject of internet debate after Tarantino spends the entirety of it defending the disgraced director.

The audio went viral after a New York Times interview with Uma Thurman about sexual assault was published over the weekend.
