From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Since the moment Disney announced there was going to be an official Star Wars prequel/sequel set between Episodes III and IV, rumours have been circulating online that a young Han Solo could make a cameo.

Then, after the announcement of a young Han Solo film was to also be made, the rumours went into overdrive, both about the Rogue One cameo and who would play the loveable Nerf Herder (now confirmed to be Alden Ehrenreich).

However, both President of LucasFilms, Kathleen Kennedy, and director of Rogue One, Gareth Edwards, have confirmed the young Han Solo will not appear in the film.

Speaking to Extra TV, Edwards said “I’m not sure if I’m allowed to do this, but I think I should. Han Solo’s not in the movie.”

Kennedy went one step further, clarifying Solo won’t be in the film and firmly stating that Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker in the prequels, will not be in the film, despite Darth Vader making an appearance.

At this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego, a new alien who will feature in the film was debuted. Called Edrio Two Tubes, the character will no doubt play a minor role in the upcoming film.

Meanwhile, a major Rogue One spoiler was seemingly revealed at the Star Wars Celebration in Europe and a new trailer gave us our first look at Vader in the film.
