Oscars 2019: Bohemian Rhapsody wins sound mixing

Bohemian Rhapsody has become an Oscar winner, leaving a certain sector of the Internet furious at its victory.

The Freddie Mercury biopic won Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Editing, beating competition from the likes of First Man, A Quiet Place, Vice and Roma. Rami Malek also won Best Actor.

“Was trying to kid myself into thinking Bohemian Rhapsody wouldn’t win this many Oscars, but it’s time to face the awful tooth,” wrote one Twitter user.

“Every time Bohemian Rhapsody wins an Oscar, God kills a bunny,” added another.

Bohemian Rhapsody was well received by audiences but was mauled by critics. “This karaoke-style paean is all style, no soul,” said The Independent‘s critic Clarisse Loughrey.

Mike Myers and Dana Carvey also dropped in to introduce the Best Picture nominee. The two actors used the Queen track "Bohemian Rhapsody" in their film Wayne's World in 1992.

The 2019 Oscars saw Olivia Colman win for The Favourite, while Alfonso Cuarón took home Best Director for his Netflix drama Roma. Green Book won Best Picture, proving a controversial choice over Roma.
