Matt LeBlanc on his retirement: 'I would like to do not a f*cking thing'

Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Matt LeBlanc appeared on CONAN this week, taking the opportunity to declare his intent on retiring from acting.

The actor recently wrapped filming on the final season of Episodes and had brought up the possibility of retiring in interviews.

Conan O'Brien pressed him on whether he's looking to quit, and LeBlance replied: "I would love that.

"I'm 50 in a couple of weeks - I'm getting old," he explained, "I think I would like to retire earlier rather than later because I would like to do not a fucking thing. "That's what I would like to do. Just nothing. Nothing. Zero."

This may come as news to the BBC, LeBlanc having recently signed up for a new series of Top Gear.

After joking about what LeBlanc might do with his free time, Conan suggested Matt make it official right there on the show, leading him to declare: "I quit!"

This might not be a hard quit as such for LeBlanc, though I wouldn't be surprised if we do see him start to only make the odd appearance on television and, hell, maybe this will put an end to those ceaseless rumours about a Friends reunion.
