Mamma Mia 2 new trailer is here and Cher is about to steal the show
And we still have no idea what's happened to Meryl Streep's Donna
A new trailer for sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is here to rock - that's if fans can get over the shock the very first glimpse of the film brought.
Is Meryl Streep's Donna dead? Streep's been confirmed to return and there are a few new glimpses of her in the trailer, yet she's curiously absent from any major ensemble scene in the trailer.
Why is she not there to serenade alongside her pals Rosie (Julie Walters) and Tanya (Christine Baranski)? Why is she not there to celebrate her daughter Sophie (Amanda Seyfried)'s pregnancy? Or there to greet the three possible grandads: Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Harry (Colin Firth), and Bill (Stellan Skarsgård)?
Why is she not one of the shocked crowd reacting to the grand entrance of her own mother, Ruby Sheridan (Cher)? Surely there's only one (tragic) answer to these questions?
Indeed, Donna's untimely passing also fits with the rest of the film's storyline, as Sophie reflects back on her own mother's journey of discovery on the Greek island of Kalokairi, with Lily James stepping into to play a young Donna.
We'll learn more when Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again hits UK cinemas on 20 July.
