Kanye West has given his verdict on the Star Wars franchise, stating that he believes the prequel trilogy is better than the recent sequels by Disney.

During a three-hour appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the rapper and producer revealed that he has been watching the franchise during quarantine.

West went on to claim that the prequel trilogy – which includes The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005) – is superior to the recently released reboots starring John Boyega and Daisy Ridley.

The rapper and producer said that “the corporate-made Disney” films could not compare to the prequel films because they were not made by George Lucas.

He said: “This is about to make me mad, right here. The first time you’ve seen me get mad in an interview. They said George Lucas’s prequels were worse than the corporate-made Disney Star Wars.

Jennifer Aniston recently warned fans that it was ‘not funny to vote for Kanye’ in the forthcoming US election (Rex Features)

“Like Revenge Of The Sith? We saw how Darth Vader was made! Like I watched that 10 times during Covid. ‘Don’t jump Anakin, I’ve got the high ground!'”

The 43-year-old added: “I’m saying the prequels are better than anything… and I’m sorry Disney/Star Wars design team… no man, this is George. This is his baby. That thing was set in his heart to show us as children to show us the hero’s journey.”

Despite West’s praise, the trilogy starring Natalie Portman and Liam Neeson was generally poorly received by fans and critics upon release.

The third movie, Attack of the Clones, is the lowest-rated of the prequels with an audience ccore of 43 per cent on film rating website Rotten Tomatoes.

West also opened up about his outburst at a political rally in South Carolina earlier this year during which he cried and made a number of shocking claims about his family.

West told Rogan: “I was crying about there was a possible chance, looking at a way there was a chance that we didn’t make, Kim [Kardashian] and I didn’t make the family I have today.”
