Jamie Vardy biopic is actually happening, Vinnie Jones lined up to play ex-Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson

The planned film will track the striker's unprecedented rise to record-breaking Premier League goalscorer

In one of the more brash film announcements in recent memory, there is to be a Jamie Vardy biopic following the 29-year-old's rise to the Premier League elite in the current football season.

Vardy, who began his senior football career playing for association club Stocksbridge Park Steels in 2007, was signed to Leicester City in 2012 for a non-league record of £1 million by Nigel Pearson.

Since then, he has both assisted in the team's rise from the Championship to the Premier League in 2014 and scored goals in a record-breaking 11 consecutive games during the 2015-2016 season beating the feat previously held by Dutch ace Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Having embedded himself into the football history books in staggering fashion, a film is now on the way. Despite no official casting announcements, reports suggest that producer Adrian Butchart is lining up British actor Vinnie Jones to play Pearson.

Butchart, who will also write the film's script, revealed his plans to capitalise on Leicester's success; they are currently riding high at the top of the league with just over a month to go until the team's final fixture.

"We have to wait until after the European Championships in the summer because we want his story to play out, but we are going all guns blazing to shoot as soon after that as possible, maybe September, October and November time," Butchart said.

"As long as everything goes to plan, we would like to see it released this time next year."

Pearson was sacked in 2015 with Italian manager Claudio Ranieri stepping in.

Vardy's previous teams include Halifax Town and Conference Premier team Fleetwood Town. There is no official word on who will play the Sheffield-hailing striker, but if the man himself had his way, Ryan Reynolds would be the actor donning the studs.
