Harrison Ford is being wooed to reprise his role of Rick Deckard in a Blade Runner sequel.

The Indiana Jones star has been offered a part in the new Ridley Scott-directed film, which is set several decades after the close of the iconic 1982 version, Deadline reports.

Former screenwriters Hampton Fancer and Michael Green are working on the new movie, following Alcon Entertainment acquiring the rights to produce prequels and sequels to the sci-fi flick from Bud Yorkin in 2011.

Yorkin is to produce the film alongside Alcon’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, while Cynthia Sikes Yorkin will serve as co-producer.

Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, the chief executives of the Thunderbird Films, will work as executive producers.

According to Deadline, Alcon revealed in a press release that it had approached Ford for the role, but the Star Wars actor has since said he is keen to read the script before committing to a decision.

Ford has already agreed to reprise another of his famous roles; he is due to play Han Solo in the forthcoming Star Wars Episode 7, alongside Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill. The film is due for release in December 2015.

As Deckard in the original Blade Runner, Ford played a retired police officer in a dystopian Los Angeles in November 2019, who had to try and terminate four genetically engineered replicants.
