The Goonies cast to virtually reunite during lockdown
The 1985 action film turns 35 in June
Josh Gad is set to host a virtual reunion between the cast of The Goonies.
Nearly 35 years after the cult classic was first released, former child stars Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Kerri Green, Ke Huy Quan, Martha Plimpton and Jeff Cohen will be coming together again during coronavirus lockdown.
The news was announced by Frozen actor Gad, who shared a video of himself and Astin chatting about the reunion on his YouTube channel ahead of the full video airing at 5pm UK time today (27 April).
Wearing a t-shirt with the character of Sloth’s face on it, Gad asks Astin how he should best get in contact with his former castmates.
“Do you guys Zoom, or do you send out a Goonies Bat-Signal up to the sky?” Gad asked, prompting Astin to recite his famous “Troy’s bucket” monologue from the 1985 film.
The Goonies aren’t the first film cast to virtually reunite during the Covid-19, after the stars of 1996’s That Thing You Do! held a mini meet-up this month to pay trubute to the late songwriter Adam Schlesinger, who died at the age of 52 after being diagnosed with the virus.
