Leonardo DiCaprio appears to be melding his turn as billionaire Jay Gatsby with that of Frank Abagnale Jr from the 2002 film Catch Me If You Can.

The actor, 38, stars in new Martin Scorsese film The Wolf of Wall Street, as an ambitious young stockbroker whose appetite for money-making is only matched by his love of partying.

The Paramount film, based on former stockbroker Jordan Belfort's best-selling memoir, is a white collar crime story about a guy who refuses to co-operate with a corruption investigation on Wall Street.

In the newly released trailer DiCaprio says: "The year I turned 26, I made $49 million, which really pissed me off because it was just shy of $1 million a week."

The film's trailer reveals the levels of debauchery Belfort enjoys - taping dollar bills to a woman's breasts, throwing wads of money at police officers investigating corruption and - particularly controversially - partaking in the sport of 'dwarf tossing' for which dwarves are dressed in adhesive suits and thrown onto a large target.

DiCaprio co-stars with Matthew McConaughey, Jonah Hill and Jean Dujardin.

The Wolf of Wall Street is slated for release on 14 November 2013.
